Join David Sobel and Jennifer Kramer for a 13.2-mile ride on and off the old railroad bed that traverses much of Harrisville, with 800 feet of elevation gain and gorgeous pond and marsh views. We’ll start at the Wells Memorial School in Chesham, heading east to take advantage of the railbed’s flat grades. In Eastview, we’ll head back toward Harrisville following the shoreline of Skatutakee Lake — with a potential stop at the renowned Harrisville General Store — before cruising languidly back to Chesham. Best suited for hybrid or mountain bikes, as approximately one-third of the route will be on railbeds with uneven surfaces. A cold water dip in Russell Reservoir, Silver Lake, or Harrisville Pond is possible after the ride.
