Following in the Footsteps of John Kulish: Bald Mountain & Willard Pond
Saturday, October 12,
9:00 am to 2:30 pm
- This event has passed.
Join avid hikers Stan Smith and Vic Starzynski for a moderately strenuous, 4-mile trek to Bald Mountain and its southern summit. This linear hike includes an elevation gain of 900 feet and traverses land loved by John Kulish during his search for bobcats decades ago. From Rye Pond, we’ll bushwhack to the lower peak of Bald Mountain before reaching the summit, then descend on a trail to Willard Pond. Bring lunch and plenty of water, and come prepared for challenging off-trail hiking conditions.
Meet at 9 a.m. at the Willard Pond Wildlife Sanctuary parking lot at the end of Willard Pond Road, off Route 123 in Hancock. Back by 2:30 p.m. Space is limited, and registration is required.
