Are you a teenager or tween with an interest in birds and birding? Join a growing movement of young adults who are honing their wildlife observation skills, learning to recognize birds and their calls, and spending time outside building community with other young birders. This winter, we need sharp eyes and ears to help collect data for the Christmas Bird Count and the Great Backyard Bird Count at the Harris Center. We’ll also venture to the coast to search for Snowy Owls and other winter birds on the shores of Plum Island. Outings will be led by Harris Center Bird Conservation Director Phil Brown, conservation biologist Steven Lamonde, and Harris Center naturalists Nikko Gagnon and Susie Spikol. Don’t miss this opportunity to grow your skills, connect with other bird enthusiasts, and contribute to community science. This program is only open to kids ages 10 through 19.
The Kestrels Young Birders Club will meet once per month throughout the year. Other outings will include a Christmas Bird Count on December 16 and a Snowy Owl Search on January 6.
9 to 11 a.m. in Hancock. Space is limited, and registration is full.

In an effort to create more belonging at the Harris Center, this outing has been designed with a specific group of people in mind. Learn more about our reasoning behind this on our Affinity Groups page.
